TERRI HOFFMAN
I’ve had two other vocal coaches before Kathy, but neither helped me produce the accomplished sound I desired.  Her teaching techniques are unique- visualization and clear description made the classes not only informative but also memorable and easy to implement. Truthfully speaking even though we worked exceptionally hard it never really seemed like work. We had a blast!!! I didn’t know work could be so much fun.

In the fall of 2004 Kathy asked me to consider co-teaching with her as she worked with an all girl teen choir called Crossroads. It was a unique experience because up until then I had been on the student side of the equation but in a teaching capacity I got to experience first hand how effective these training tools were with students of all ages. It gave me the tools I needed to train a choir at a church I later attended.

Wish we could do it all over again. I guess that’s why memories are cherished.

My two children (ages 10 and 13) have been working with Kathy since she opened her studio here in Waterville. They look forward to and are enjoying the lessons and have seen improvement already! Kathy is pleasant, professional and knowledgeable. Her positive, "can-do" approach has built up the kids' confidence and motivates them to practice. We are very happy with Noteworthy Vocal Studio and enthusiastically recommend Kathy!

BLAKE ALDERMAN

Thank you so much for helping me to “understand my instrument”. I would just like to tell you that because of you I have so much more confidence going into auditions. I know without you I would not be dreaming the dreams that are in my heart right now. Thank you for being a teacher and a friend.

CHRISTINA PALLARIA

Kathy Brown recognized my ability to sing when I was a freshman in high school.  I will be forever grateful to her because without her encouragement, both as my teacher and friend, I would never have developed the love for music or the confidence to sing that I have today!

As her student for almost two years, the technique Kathy taught me established me as a vocalist.   We covered all of the foundational principles but of the many things we covered during my course of study two things stand out in my mind that continue to impact my life today. The first being the importance of creatively communicating ideas and expressing emotion behind the vocal pieces we perform.  The second, and of equal importance was learning how to use visualization as a tool to place my sound which enabled me to create this incredible open, clear sound that added all kinds of color and mood to the music selections we worked on.

As a member of the “Crossroads” teenage girls ensemble that Mrs. Brown directed, I learned the importance of blending and listening to others around you on a choral level to achieve “one voice”.  Today as a freshman at Liberty University, I am a member of the university’s “Concert Choir,” and I continue to apply the principles she taught me when I perform at various campus events and churches.

Through her teaching, I not only grew as a vocalist and performer, but as a person.  She taught me proper stage presence in front of an audience as a soloist, and because of her encouragement, I am considering a major in Communications and I am currently studying Vocal Performance in Liberty University’s Fine Arts Department as my minor.

She was a joy to work with, and I always looked forward to every lesson with excitement.   I cherish the time we had together, and the blessing she is in my life!

JEREMY MECLER
I first met and got to know Kathy during my senior year in high school when I auditioned for and became the bass player for Crossroads Teen Choir.  It was during this time that I got to observe first-hand not only how she worked with the girls but how much they began to improve. I also marveled at Kathy’s vocal control.  It was her instrument and she had mastered it.

Noteworthy was born out of Kathy’s desire to train these young singers and others like them so that they could experience their full potential vocally and with that knowledge take this potential and confidently do anything they wanted to with it. I decided to be one of those “other” people and began taking lessons. You see I have a very sharp ear for music. I can’t stand things that are out of tune and I can hear very intricate harmonies but I felt my voice was woefully lacking when it came to execution. I just didn’t understand how the voice worked so I could never step up my game.

I trained with Kathy for one year and the technique I learned began to unlock the doors that had been closed to me before. My confidence grew along with my vocal ability and today I am in a band that plays regular gigs, and I’m on the praise team at church.  I use what I’ve learned every week and will for the rest of my life.

JESSICA TILTON

"The voice lessons and the experiences I had with Kathy have been, and always will be, valuable to me. Kathy was very professional and the knowledge of her field and the experience she possessed was very apparent throughout every lesson. She worked with me to assess my personal weaknesses and strengths as a singer and coached me on how to operate my own voice and body language accordingly. She is full of praise for all of her students and loves to see them excel in their studies. This is certainly her passion. Kathy has not only been an instructor to me but also a mentor. The love that she has for me, and all of her students is overwhelming. The question is not of qualification, because Kathy is certainly adequately qualified, but it is a question of quality. Kathy has been an excellent teacher to me and to all of her previous students and I am excited that she plans to continue sharing her wisdom with the people of New England!"
