Kathy Brown, founder and instructor of Noteworthy Vocal Studio, has been performing and teaching voice for most of her adult life. Her formal training in private vocal instruction has won her first place awards in local, state, and regional competitions.
Kathy’s performances have ranged from secular to sacred music and she has had the opportunity to sing across the United States as well as in several other countries around the world. She enjoys all types of music, but has a special passion for jazz and blues, which she acquired from her father, Clement Boulette, who has been a well-known jazz-blues guitarist in the Central Maine area for most of his life.
Kathy’s unique approach to teaching voice blends the disciplines of sound technique with a fun, relaxed environment that is free of negative critique. She believes that students excel in learning at a much faster rate when they are free to explore every aspect of their instrument without fear that the focus will be on their failures. Therefore, positive feedback coupled with truthful evaluation has become the cornerstone of her success.
Kathy is interested in working with students who have a goal for their study, are serious about mastering their instrument and are willing to work hard to get there. If—after reading Kathy’s approach and philosophy to voice training, reviewing her policy statement, and listening to the samples of some of her former students—you feel that you could benefit from her instruction, she would love to hear from you.
